ALEXANDRIA, VA — HACKtheMACHINE Unmanned is a technology prize challenge focused on discovery and teambuilding between the U.S. Navy, industry, and academia for the creation of high-end solutions and capabilities. Taking place virtually November 16th – 19th, alongside a livestream broadcast to the public from NavalX in Alexandria, VA and additional broadcasting from San Diego, CA., to include conversations with industry leaders and subject matter experts.
On November 17th at 12:30 P.M. EST, Rear Adm. Lorin Selby will provide a brief onsite at NavalX in VA on the significance of the event to promote the growth of the maritime digital community of practice to reimagine naval power. The new direction builds from the idea that as challenges continue to evolve, the U.S. must act rapidly, initiating a broad and inclusive team to be a part of creative solutions like those generated by HACKtheMACHINE events.
“I consider exploring opportunities to adapt existing technologies that may include commercial off the shelf systems, that we take with varying adaptations and put them into the service of protecting our nation. An important part of this strategy is mentoring the small, innovative businesses that build these sorts of things in order to create an entirely reimagined team of national security focused companies. HACKtheMACHINE facilitates insights that lead to the implementation of these strategies,” said Selby.
HACKtheMACHINE Unmanned will generate insights and principles that quickly lead to the rigorous engineering and experimentation behind next-level solutions for the challenges faced by the U.S. in cyber, AI and digital engineering. Three specific corresponding technical challenge tracks will appeal to a broad range of professions and skill sets.
HACKtheMACHINE Unmanned seeks participants from all walks of life to engage in this challenge series to solve problems, win prize money, and be a dynamic and innovative part of the Navy team. Moving forward, the series will integrate virtual with live events in locations where new technologies and insights from the event can be tested live, to address problem complexity.
